    Cancer

One of the most deadly diseases of our
time has perhaps the simplest explanation.
Cancer is a disease in which healthy cells
fail to mature properly. Because these cells
are abnormal they don’t play by the same
    rules and therefore become unresponsive
to the influences of adjacent tissue.
As cancer cells begin to grow they multiply
    uncontrollably, develop their own blood
supply and become a tumor. Once cancer
cells get rolling they are hard to stop.
They invade local tissue and spread to other
parts of the body through metastasis. Being
systemic in nature makes cancer very
dangerous and as we all know it
is almost always fatal if left untreated.

    Types of Cancer

There are over 150 different types of cancer and each and every part of your
body can become a victim of on type or the other. The broad classifications of
cancer are grouped by the types of cells or tissues from which they originate.
Classification is done by this method because the cell type determines the
appearance, malignancy and growth rate. Once cell type is established your
doctor will be able to determine the appropriate form of treatment for that
    particular type of cancer.

    The 5 Basic Cancer Categories

Carcinomas – Carcinomas are tumors that originate in tissue covering the
surface or lining of an internal organ. Carcinomas are the most common types
of cancer and most of us associate carcinomas with skin cancer but they can
affect the breasts, lungs, intestines and the prostate as well.

Leukemia – Leukemia originates in the tissue of the bone marrow, lymph
nodes or spleen. Leukemia is commonly thought of as cancer of the blood.
In Leukemia there is an overproduction of white blood cells creating an
imbalance in red and white blood cell count. Leukemia does not form
    solid tumors.

Lymphomas – Lymphomas are cancers of the lymph glands and lymph
nodes. Your lymph glands are located in the armpits, the neck, the groin
    and the spleen.

Myelomas - Myelomas are uncommon tumors that begin in the plasma cells
    of the bone marrow.

Sarcomas – No cancer is a good thing but being diagnosed with a Sarcoma
is about the worst news you can get. This is deadliest form of malignant tumor
cancer and originates in connective tissue and muscles. It can be fast moving
and attacks your lymphatic system, bones and muscles.

    Symptoms

In its early stages cancer normally has not symptoms, but eventually
a malignant tumor will grown large enough to be detected. As it
continues to grow, it may press on nerves and produce pain, penetrate
blood vessels and cause bleeding, or interfere with the workings of a
body organ or system. The following symptoms may signal the presence
    of some form of cancer:

    * a sore that resists healing.

    * change in the size, color, shape, or thickness or a wart, mole,
    or mouth sore.

    * persistent cough, hoarseness, or sore throat.

    * thickening or lumps in the breast, testicles, or elsewhere.

    * a change in bowel or bladder habits.

    * any unusual bleeding or discharge.

    * chronic indigestion or difficulty swallowing.

    * persistent headaches.

    * unexplained loss of weight or appetite.

    * chronic pain in bones.

    * persistent fatigue, nausea, or vomiting.

    * persistent low grade fever, either constant or intermittent.

    * repeated occurrences of infection.
