Acne Tips

While avoiding acne altogether may not be possible you can take steps to limit the
frequency of acne flare-ups through natural means.

Don’t Mash – Sometimes it is hard to resist especially if the blemish is located in a strategic
spot, but mashing actually can increases inflammation and scarring.

Minimize Stress – Avoiding stress altogether may not be possibility, but taking steps to minimize
stress, such as getting enough sleep or a daily exercises routine can be helpful.
Stress triggers hormonal changes which can cause acne flare-ups.

Limit Cosmetics – I can hear the collective screams of thousands of readers. Some might even
trade in their spouses or significant other before giving up makeup. So if you can’t reduce makeup
usage make an effort to use cosmetics that are all natural and water based. Avoid products that
contain harsh chemicals, dyes, or oils. Wash or dip cosmetic applicator brushes and sponges
in alcohol to keep them free of bacteria.

Keep Your Face Clean but Don’t Overdo It – Washing your face a couple of times a day to keep
the affected area oil free is a good idea. But vigorous scrubbing and over washing can actually
make acne worse. This occurs because of over stimulation of the sebum oil glands.

Processed Food a No, No – Limit, or if possible eliminate processed food from your diet
altogether. Process foods are lacking in enzymes and can result in damage to the skin and
    its collagen.

You Salty Dog You – Limit your consumption of ionized salt. Excessive iodine consumption has
    been linked to acne flare-ups.

Avoid Sugar – First I suggest throwing your makeup in the trash and now eliminating sugar!
Sugar reduces the effectiveness of your immune system. In addition, biopsies of individuals
with acne have shown their tissue glucose tolerance to be badly flawed. One researcher referred
to this as “skin diabetes”. Candida can also cause acne and excess sugar can facilitate Candida.

Water – Some through history have believed water to be the fountain of youth. While this may not
be all together true, water is a vital contributor to healthy skin. Drink at least eight glasses of quality
    water a day.

A Yogurt a Day – We have all heard the saying that an apple a day keeps the doctor away. If you
aren’t allergic to dairy products substituting yogurt for apples just might be what the doctor
ordered. Yogurt is helpful in maintaining healthy intestinal flora which in turn is helpful for
    keeping your system clean.

Vitamins – As discussed in the vitamin section, eating a diet high in vitamins A, C, and E is
important to skin health. Supplementation of these vitamins can be helpful for those suffering
from acne. Although vitamin A is important in fighting acne, it is just as important not to take too
much. Vitamin E can help to regulate vitamin A levels and is helpful in preventing scars.

Zinc – Probably the first thought that came to mind when acne pimples began appearing was
lack of zinc; right! Zinc is an antibacterial agent and plays an important role in the oil producing
glands of the skin. A diet low in zinc may promote flare-ups.  Shellfish and sunflower seeds are
    both high in zinc.

Colon Health – Keeping the colon in top working order is important in effectively riding the body
of toxins. Excess toxins can work their way out of your system through the skin, producing acne.

Become Fruity – Fruits contain water and nutrients that are good for the skin.

Serve Me Some Acne, Please – Consuming fried foods, alcohol, caffeine, cheese, and fat
are a recipe for creating an acne outbreak.

3 Step Plan – Proper diet, nutritional supplementation, and finding the right skin care products
may be all that is needed to solve your acne problem.

Wishing you the best for a blemish free complexion!
